How to install an EmDash theme
Every theme here is a normal Astro project with EmDash built in. Installing one takes a few minutes.
Free themes
Each free theme page shows its install command. Run it in a terminal, then follow the prompts:
npm create astro@latest -- --template github:OWNER/REPO
Then install packages and start the dev server with pnpm install and pnpm dev. Open /_emdash/admin to finish setup and create your admin login.
Paid themes
After checkout you get a download link and a licence key by email. Unzip the theme, run pnpm install, then pnpm dev.
Deploy to Cloudflare
Themes marked Cloudflare run on Cloudflare Workers with a D1 database and an R2 bucket. Create both, put their names in wrangler.jsonc, then run pnpm run deploy.
Your content
Themes ship with demo content. Replace it from the EmDash admin. Your content lives in your database, so you can switch themes later without losing it.
